Navratri 2022 Day 1

DAY 1 - White

People wear the colour white on the first day of the festival. The colour stands for happiness and brightness. Hindus worship Goddess ShailaPutri on Day 1.

NAVARATRI is a Sanskrit word which means 'nine nights'. It is also called SHARAD NAVRATRI  and DURGA PUJA.  In Hinduism, major festival held in honour of the divine feminine. Navratri occurs over nine days during the month of ASHVIN, usually in September - October. It ends with the DUSSEHRA also called as VIJAYADASHMI celebration on the tenth day.

I'm some part of India , Dussehra is considered a focal point of the festival, making it effectively span 10 days instead of 9 . Additionally , as Navratri depends on the lunar calendar , in some years it may be celebrated for 8 days, with Dussehra on the 9th.

Importance of Garba pot in Navratri

The Garbha Deep has superb interpretation. The vessel itself is a symbol of a body, within whom a divinity (in the form of Goddess) resides. Garba is danced around this symbol to honour the fact that all humans have the same divinity of Devi Durga Within. And Garba is now appreciated Worldwide. It is also a symbol of the Universe that spreads divine rays through the Garbha Deep. All the holes on Garba Pot is a symbol of entrance of cosmic energy. So, Garba is very important part of our Culture. From today, do not just dance but make a difference and spread our great culture, now its time to Back To The Roots.

There are four similar festivals, also called as Navratri , which are held at various stages of the year ; However , the early autumn festival, also called Sharad Navratri, is the most significant.

Navratri is celebrated differently in India's various regions. For many people it is a time of religious reflection and fasting; for others it's a time for dancing and feasting. Among fasting customs are observing a strict vegetarian diet and abstaining from Alcohol and certain spices. Dances performed include Garba, especially in Gujarat. Typically the festival's nine nights are dedicated to different aspects not the divine feminine principle, or SHAKTI .
